Bolbom Temple in Sainamaina given facelift

By Our Correspondent,Butwal, July 2: The historic Bolbom Temple in Sainamaina Municipality-1 of Rupandehi, which is known as Pashupatinath in western Nepal, has got a new look.

With the completion of the first phase of reconstruction, the temple now has an attractive look.

At the initiative of the federal government and Sainamaina Municipality, the first phase of the reconstruction work has been completed.

There are plans to develop Bolbam Dham as one of the major religious tourist destinations of Lumbini Province.

Rambali Chaudhary, Chairman of the Temple Management Committee, said that the first phase work of the temple reconstruction has been completed by preparing a master plan.

In the first phase of work, Rs. 65.7 million was spent. The Federal government has invested 70 per cent and Sainamaina Municipality 30 per cent for the temple reconstruction project.

Chairman Chaudhary said that the reconstruction work was carried out after the proposal to forward the Bolbam Area Development Project ahead in joint investment was approved. The second phase and additional construction work would be done at a cost of around Rs. 80 million.

A master plan has been prepared for the 23 kattha land of the temple. The pagoda-style temple has been reconstructed using artistic wood, stone, bricks and a cooper roof with a pinnacle.

Hari Sharma Gautam, Secretary of the Committee, said that after the reconstruction of the temple, it would look more attractive and lure religious tourists to the area.

He said that after the completion of the second phase of the work, the long-term master plan of the temple would be prepared by establishing the Bolbam Area Development Trust.

Additional support is expected from the federal and provincial governments for the reconstruction of the temple as per the master plan.

According to the temple management committee, the reconstruction work of the second phase will begin soon.
