By A Staff Reporter,Kathmandu, Aug. 30: The National Commission for Women (NCW) organised a Teej special programme on Thursday.
In the competitive programme, a special performance was made by the Workers’ Women Cooperative Naumati Baja Group.
The programme was inaugurated by playing Mangal Dhun performed by Naumati Baja team members – Gyanu Baral, Indira Shrestha, Kalpana Nepali, Sammita Pariyar, Kopila Pariyar, Bhim Kumari Shrestha, Mishri Maya Baram, Jyoti Magar, Sangita BK and Shobha Bhandari under the leadership of Januka Poudel.
They performed songs and dances to different tunes.
On the occasion, the Naumati Baja group, employees of NCW Manju Kunwar, Srishti Poudel, Samita Thapa, Muna Chaulagain, Bimala Adhikari and Mamta Subedi performed dances.
Speaking on the occasion, Kamala Kumari Parajuli, Chairperson of the NCW, stressed the need for giving a message of women empowerment while marking Teej.
Renu Kumari Sah, member of the Madhesi Commission, stressed the need to celebrate Teej as an opportunity to preserve art and culture.
Workers’ Women Cooperative Naumati Baja Group became first, Manju Kunwar became second and the team of Bimala Adhikari, Mamta Subedi, Muna Chaulagain and the team of Manju Kunwar, Srishti Poudel, Sammita Thapa and Muna Chaulagain secured the third positions. The winners were awarded cash prizes.
