By TRN Online, Kathmandu, Jan 11: Cricket Association of Nepal (CAN) suspended the cricketer and former captain of the National Team, Sandeep Lamichhane, on Thursday.
Chatur Bahadur Chand, Chairman of the CAN through a press release, informed that Lamichhane is banned from playing both domestic and international cricket. The decision was made after Lamichhane was convicted of rape by the Kathmandu District Court (KDC).
A single bench of judge Shishir Raj Dhakal convicted Lamichhane for raping a girl on 29 December 2022.
Lamichhane will be facing a jail term of eight years, fined Rs three lakh and has to give Rs 2 lakh as compensation, as per the decision of the KDC on Wednesday after being convicted of rape.TRN Online
