Dr. Mahat has instructed to aim for 100 percent collection by taking a high target in revenue collection. He said, “Revenue raised is spent on development and construction, if it decreases, it cannot be spent. If there is no income, spending is not possible.”

He said that it would not be possible to control illegal smuggling only by the single efforts of the Customs Office and the Internal Revenue Office. For that, Dr. Mahat stressed that Nepal Police, Armed Police should also support the local government.

“Illegal traffic should be discouraged and legal traffic should be encouraged, this will encourage those who do legal work, otherwise it will cost those who do legal work,” he said.

Mentioning that the government has taken the goal of encouraging domestic production, Dr. Mahat opined that daily consumer goods should become competitive. Stating that we should think about technology and production methods to increase production, he emphasized that effective programs including subsidies are necessary.

Mentioning that with the aim of reducing imports and increasing exports, Bangladesh has raised customs rates on imported goods, he said that attention should be paid to that.

In the event, Mechi Customs Chief Ram Prasad Regmi informed Finance Minister Dr. Mahat about the reasons for not collecting revenue as per the target, strategies taken to achieve the target, possibilities and challenges, and problems.

On the occasion, Dhankaji Khatri, Chairman of Dhulabari Water Consumer Committee, said that a proposal has been submitted to the Ministry of Finance through the Sahalgani project to solve the water problem.

Informing that 3 million rupees have been set aside for the project out of 20 million rupees, he requested Finance Minister Dr. Mahat to take initiatives to ensure the resources so that the contract process can proceed in this financial year.

Similarly, Deepak Pokharel, head of the office of Kakarvitta drinking water consumer and sanitation organization, informed Finance Minister Dr. Mahat that the project of assistance to supply the necessary water has reached its final stage with the increase in the number of consumersnforming that the organization has submitted the voucher of 5% of the amount for the project worth 140 million, Pokharel asked Finance Minister Dr. Mahat to take initiatives to ensure the resources. Local public representatives, representatives of social organizations and businessmen were present in the event, but the customs did not give any information about the arrival of the finance minister to the local media.
