President Paudel lays foundation of Bhanu Sahitya Udhyan

By Amar Raj Naharki,Tanahun, Apr. 28: President Ramchandra Paudel laid the foundation stone of the ‘Bhanu Sahitya Udhyan’ at Chundi Ramgha, Ward No. 4 of Bhanu Municipality in Tanahun on Monday.

The garden is to be constructed with the long-term vision of developing Chundi Ramgha, the birthplace of Bhanubhakta Acharya, into an international centre for the Nepali language and literature.

The project has begun to take concrete shape under the special vision and initiative of President Paudel himself, and the government has advanced it as a project of national pride.

Although previously announced, the project had not progressed due to various technical reasons, the current government has now prioritised it and initiated construction.

According to Suraj Shrestha, Chief Administrative Officer of Bhanu Municipality, the first phase of construction will begin with a budget allocation of Rs. 200 million provided by the government. As per the master plan, the initial phase will include the construction of a modern ‘Bhanu Bhawan’.

The primary objective of the project is to preserve and revitalise the legacy of Adikavi Bhanubhakta Acharya and to establish a shared intellectual hub for Nepali-speaking communities around the world.

In the future, the garden will feature replicas of major religious and cultural heritage sites from all seven provinces, along with statues of prominent figures in Nepali literature. Deputy Mayor Uma Gotame expressed confidence that this will develop Chundi Ramgha into a cultural pilgrimage site. She further added that the garden will not only be a physical structure but also an important centre for researchers.

Initiation of such a large-scale project at the birthplace of the Adikavi, who is credited with the expansion of the Nepali language has generated enthusiasm among residents.

To make the foundation ceremony grand, necessary coordination was carried out with local administration, political parties, and civil society, while security arrangements in Tanahun were made highly efficient in view of the President’s visit.

It is expected that upon completion, Bhanu Municipality will become a major centre of attraction for Nepali literature enthusiasts worldwide.
