
History of AWARDS Nepal/ Establishment
An award is a Dalit, children and women focus organization. AWARD Nepal is a non-governmental social development as community based organization, registered at District Administration Office (DAO) of Bajhang in 2004 (2061 BS) and affiliated with Social Welfare Council (SWC). It works for not profit making. AWARD, formed by Dalits, is located at Chainpur ward No. 1 of Bajhang District. Its activities are quite impartial to political party, religion alignment. It works with underprivileged groups, especially children and women to promote and practice their political, social, economic, ethical and cultural rights. It is affiliated with Social Welfare Council and other national and international networks. It has gained wide experience on child rights, education, gender and development, women leadership skill development, peace education, issues of social inclusion and youths in the region. AWARD was formed to address different issues of Dalits in the district and the region to some extent. It has focused its focus primarily in women rights, Dalit rights, child rights, education, income generation and right based movements on the issues of Dalits and Dalits communities. Besides, it has experienced empowerment and advocacy to the Dalits, women, child, conflict victims, and landless people in Bajhang districts.
AWARD has been continuously implementing Dalit Empowerment campaigns and child right issues raise after getting its legally registration in 2004 in activeness of Dalit youths, AWARD, organizing Right-based campaign programs like grouping meeting, discussion, workshop, interaction, training, opposition, slogan, rally and unviewed for social justice along public advocacy on Dalits collective issues e.g. Caste-based discrimination and untouchables, mainly issues of rights and rights related to Human Rights with Dalits, poor, Women and children has been promoting through ever circulating result oriented campaign of them. In that’s way, it has been circulating awareness campaign, empowerment campaign and income generating. AWARD NEPAL has targeted transformation of current conflict of country in peace, conflict victim women, men and children for awareness generating campaign, skill Development training for income generating, organizes for peace through group formation and mobilization and micro-finance program

AWARD is on the coordination process to be developed as a resource organization in the region to the sectors of organizational management, child rights, youth and peace, education and ECD. Now it has been working in Bajhang and Kailali with child Club, LGCDP Project it means two districts covered now.
The main characteristic of AWARDs is to work with other likeminded agencies and share inputs and impact as well. It works in close collaboration with government agencies and local groups/authorities. The other focus areas of the organization are to promote domestic tourism for local employment to youths, good governance and environment management working with local groups’ networks. AWARDs trusts on movement oriented programming, mainstreaming of social issues (Chhaupadi, HIV and AIDS, anti tobacco, child marriage, gender violence and social inclusion of caste, disabled, vulnerable groups) in all programs.
