16-day anti-gender violence campaign launched by Mechinagar

Kakarbhita Mechinagar municipality has started a 16-day campaign against gender violence in the middle of a program.
On Monday morning, the municipality started a 16-day campaign against gender violence by holding a rally with various slogans and placards, with the significant participation of people’s representatives, employees, active organizations of the city, students, media personnel, Nepal Police, Armed Police, City Police, etc. .
Starting the viyan, city chief Gopalchandra Budhathoki said that conscious citizens should not do any act prohibited by law. He said that the incidents of various gender-based violence are increasing in recent times and said that everything should be done to solve them.


He said that even now, sexual violence is done for various reasons and it is protected by politicians and prominent people, and he said that whoever is wrong in such an act should be brought to justice. He also said that the municipality is serious against sexual violence.
In the program, Deputy Chief Meena Pokhrel Upreti said that even if sexual violence is reduced for any reason, it will be brought under the legal framework. She said that even though sexual violence of various natures is happening in Mechinagar area, now they are trying to eradicate it. She informed that various programs against sexual violence have been promoted by the municipality.Mechinagar Women’s Development Officer Jayanthi Kharel gave information about the participation of people’s representatives, employees, active organizations of the city, students, media personnel, Nepal Police, Armed Police, City Police and others in the program.
She said that signatures against sexual violence were also collected in the same program.
