Former Chief Minister Thapa was beaten

kakarvitta. Uddhav Thapa, former Chief Minister of Koshi Province and leader of the Nepali Congress Koshi Province Parliamentary Party, was beaten up in Kankai Municipality-2 Surunga of Jhapa.

District Police Office Jhapa informed that while he was returning home after participating in a picnic program organized by Nepal Press Union Jhapa in Domukha, he was beaten up at a place called Kankai Municipality-2 Juke Calvert on the East-West Highway on Saturday evening at around 6 o’clock.

Thapa, who was coming in vehicle No. Ba 1 J 653, was beaten up by a group riding Ba 1 J 1870. Former Chief Minister Thapa was injured in the beating. He has returned to his residence after treatment at Virta City Hospital in Birtamod. Thapa’s eyes are swollen and his face is bruised due to the beating.

According to an eyewitness, there was a dispute when the vehicle carrying the employees of Electricity Authority Tunnel was overtaken by a speeding vehicle. The two people who did the beating were arrested by the area police office Surunga and are currently kept in the area police office Birtamode.

Among those arrested are 49-year-old Bhakta Bahadur Katwal of Shivasatakshi 11 and 42-year-old Prithvi Shrestha of Kankai 3. It is understood that both of them are employees of Electricity Authority Tunnel.
