
Darjeeling, 12th April: GJM leader Binay Tamang appealed to the people of the hills to fully support the lockdown that has been extended till April 30. Tamang further urged the general public to maintain social distancing and follow all government protocols.
The West Bengal government on Saturday extended the lockdown till April 30 to fight the pandemic. Addressing the media at the state secretariat Nabanna, Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee said the decision was taken after a video conference between Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the Chief Ministers.
Coronavirus Pandemic: India crossed the 8000-mark

On Sunday morning, India reported 8,356 positive COVID-19 cases and 273 have died across the country, with more than 900 cases and 34 deaths in the last 24 hours.
A health ministry official said on Saturday that the number of COVID-19 cases in India could have even reached a figure of 8,20,000 by April 15 if the containment measures and nationwide lockdown hadn’t been imposed.
