Three charged in the murder of a Siliguri man
Siliguri, Three men, identified as Jayanta Mahato, Vikky Sah, and Baya Sarkar, charged with the murder of a Siliguri man, were arrested by the police.
As per the report, the dead body of a man, identified as Nilabhojo Dutta was recovered on Friday morning in the Siliguri Aurobindo Pally area. After proper investigation, the police arrested the three accused individuals and also recovered various valuables that were stolen from the deceased’s house.
The arrested accused were produced before the Siliguri court and have been taken into 5-day police custody.
Darjeeling District TMC distributed ration among families residing in the city’s red-light area
Siliguri, 27th April: Amid the massive lockdown imposed in India to curb the spread of Coronavirus, the people living in the red light areas have no source of income and are having a hard time making the ends meet.
Intending to help such people, the Darjeeling District Trinamool Congress President Ranjan Sarkar, on Monday, distributed ration among 300 needy families in the area of the city.
Sarkar stated that more such initiatives will be taken during the entire lockdown period
COVID-19 Latest updates: Over 26,000 active cases in India, death toll rises to 826
According to the latest data released by the Union Ministry of Health, the total COVID-19 cases in India have crossed the 26,000-mark on Saturday morning with current numbers at 26,917 while 5913 have been cured of the virus.
Meanwhile, in West Bengal, the total number of positive cases escalated to 423 on Sunday while 105 have been cured.
