
By Ramesh Bishwokarma, Gulmi, July 17: Preparations for the month -long Shrawani at the historical, religious and tourism destination of Rasesunga in Gulmi have been completed.
Suresh Chandra Bhusal, chairman of the Rasunga Conservation Committee, informed that various religious activities, including worship ceremonies, Vedic recitations and other devotional programme will be held throughout the month of Shrawan, as in previous years.
According to Bhusal, all the preparations have been completed to ensure the convenience of devotees. The Shrawan month is considered especially auspicious for religious observance.
Daily worship, Vedic recitation, Akhand Rudri, and other religious programme will be conducted in the Resunga area. According to religious beliefs, Jupiter is blind this year, there will be no new religious rituals or programmes to start new worship but the traditionally conducted Vedic recitation, Akhanda Rudri and other regular worship will continue.
Preparations are underway to make the special religious programme more extensive after August 10. He informed that Batuks will be invited from Ridi and worship will be performed according to Vedic rituals. The special devotional music, bhajan-kirtan and religious discourse progamms will be organised on the occasion of Thulo Ekadashi.
A significant number of devotees are expected to attend Resunga during this period. According to religious beliefs, Ganga River menstruates during this month of Shrawan, bathing in ponds and lakes during this time is considered more auspicious than in the river.
Based on this belief, chairman Bhusal said that it is believed that bathing in the Mahapokhari and Ramkunda in Resunga will bring great religious benefits. There is also a religious belief that the Mahapokhari is mixed with holy water brought from Chardham. Due to this, thousands of devotees come here to bathe and worship throughout the month of Shrawan.
Devotees are expected to come from various districts including Gulmi, Palpa, Arghakhachi, Baglung, Pyuthan, Syangja, Rupandehi, and others districts for the month-long Shrawan Mela. After bathing in the Mahapokhari, devotees reach the Yagyashala located a little above the pond and worship the temple.

Devotees also flock to religious places like Siddhasthan, Bishnupaduka, Lakshminarayan, Rishyasringa in this Resunga area. Necessary preparations have been completed for sanitation, drinking water, worship management, security coordination, and easy movement of visitors to make the fair organised.
The conservation committee has also made arrangements for food and accommodation targeting devotees coming from outside districts.
Resunga, a place of natural beauty, religious faith and historical significance, is filled with a particularly devotional atmosphere during the month of Shrawan. The Shrawan fair is expected to have a positive impact on religious tourism as well as local businesses and the economy. Meanwhile, Resunga Municipality has launched the ‘Let’s go to Rasunga’ campaign to promote tourism in Resunga and has also constructed various structures to increase tourist attraction.
