CM INSPECTS PREPAREDNESS AT RANGPO
GANGTOK: Chief Minister P.S. Golay has asserted that the Sikkim government is ‘fully equipped and prepared’ for any situation related with COVID-19.
“Due to the recent casualty in North Bengal, a large section of Sikkimese people are worried. I would like to inform that our government is fully equipped and prepared for any situation. We have adopted every necessary means to keep the disease from entering our border. I am personally monitoring the situation and would request co-operation from everyone towards the government and the people working on the frontline. The general public should take this lockdown seriously and follow social distancing and self-isolation at all times. Our government will leave no stone unturned or compromise with the safety of our people,” posted the Chief Minister in his social media page on Monday.
The Chief Minister made a surprise visit to Rangpo today morning to take stock of the preparedness and to know the ground situation of the border town regarding COVID-19.
“During the visit, I gave clear instructions to the medical staff as well as police personnel to strictly monitor the movement of the people and not allow anyone to enter or leave Sikkim during the lockdown. The hard work, dedication and the seriousness in which the frontline workers are performing their duties during this adverse situation are commendable and I assured full cooperation and help from the government,” said Golay.
“I also informed the medical team that the government is fully prepared and has enough stock of Personal Protection Equipment (PPE) and other required materials and should not worry about it and work diligently.”
The Chief Minister inspected the quarantine centre of Rangpo and recorded his satisfaction on the preparedness. I reiterated and gave clear instructions to SP (east) and SDM Rangpo that they should not allow anyone to leave and enter Sikkim during this lockdown and follow the safety protocol at all times, he said.sikkimexpress/from
