Siliguri Police take stern action against lockdown violators
Siliguri, 19th April: The Siliguri Police, under the leadership of Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) of Zone-2 Kunwar Bhushan Singh and Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) Bidit Raj Bundesh, launched operations in Siliguri’s Ward No. 46 Champasari area since early morning and arrested several lockdown violators under the Disaster Management Act.

The police also drew circles in the Champasari bazaar area to prevent crowds. The Bazar Committee has also been instructed to follow the government protocols properly, failing which stern legal action would be taken.

Meanwhile, strict police surveillance is being kept following the directive of Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee.

Bison enters village in Cooch Behar, people crowd amid lockdown

Cooch Behar, 19th April: Sensation prevailed after a bison entered the North Marichbari area under Cooch Behar-2 Kholta Marichbarri Gram Panchayat on Sunday morning.

Meanwhile, a crowd of people gathered to see the wild animal ignoring the ongoing lockdown.

Upon receiving the news, the Forest Department officials and the Pundibari police reached the spot and rescued the animal after hours of effort.

NJP police bust fake liquor production gang in Siliguri, 1 arrested


Siliguri, 19th April: Based on a tip-off, the NJP police launched an operation and busted a fake liquor manufacturing unit in the Surya Sen colony area amid the ongoing COVID-19 lockdown.

Several glass bottles, fake brand labels and a huge cache of liquor were recovered from the spot.

Bacchu Khan, one of the suspect, has been arrested in connection to the incident. However, the other men involved managed to escape.
