COVID-19 Latest updates: Over 39,000 cases in India, death toll rises to 1301

According to the latest data released by the Union Ministry of Health, the total COVID-19 cases in India have crossed the 39,000-mark with current numbers at 39, 980 while 10,632 have been cured of the virus.

83 deaths have been reported in the past 24 hours.

Siliguri man battling with cancer seeks help from the government to arrange medicines amid lockdown

Siliguri, 03rd May: Pradeep Chakraborty, a resident of the Ward No. 10 Mahakal Pally area, is battling with blood cancer and is facing difficulties in buying medicines from the Apollo Hospital, Kolkata due to the COVID-19 lockdown.

In this context, Chakraborty, through Siliguri Times, is seeking help from the administration to help him get the medicines immediately.

Pradeep Chakraborty stated that he has been battling with blood cancer and often visits Chennai for medical help. He further added that he urgently required treatment in Chennai but the lockdown imposed ruined all his travel plans.

Upon interacting with the Chennai Hospital, he was asked to get the medicines immediately from Apollo Hospital in Kolkata. He, therefore, sought help from the administration.

Sukanta Pally Welfare Organization fed the needy amid lockdown

Siliguri, 03rd May: In light of the COVID-19 lockdown, the Sukanta Pally Welfare Organization extended its helping hand towards the needy.

The organization members, on Sunday, distributed cooked meals among 500 needy people in Siliguri’s Ward No. 32 Balaka Club more area.

Team member Shankar Sengupta stated that since vegetarian meals are provided to the people on a regular basis, they arranged non-vegetarian meals for a change. He further stated that such initiatives will be carried out every Sunday.siliguritimes/from,india
