Siliguri youth arrested by NJP police on molestation charges
Siliguri, 20th May: Bacchan Sarkar was arrested by the NJP Police under the charge of allegedly molesting a young woman and snatching the gold chain off her neck. The matter surfaced from Thakurnagar Railgate area under NJP police station.
On May 17, the woman was on her way to her relative’s house in the Goramore area, during which Sarkar stopped her mid-way and assaulted her.
Following this, the victim lodged a complaint at the NJP police station, based on which, the police arrested the accused on Tuesday.
The arrested accused was produced before the Jalpaiguri court on Wednesday.
Siliguri man detained on the charge of forcibly occupying government land
Siliguri, 20th May: The NJP Police, on Wednesday, detained a man, identified as Joy Singh Barman, on the charge of forcibly occupying a government land and also carrying out construction work on it.
The locals alleged that around a year ago, Joy Singh Barman had bought a government irrigation land from Vijay Barman, a resident of the Porajhar area, for one lakh rupees. They further stated that Joy recently commenced construction work on the said piece of land and also forcibly occupied the embankment of the Mahananda river.
Unidentified body recovered from the restroom of Birpara Dalgaon Railway Station
Alipurduar, 20th May: Sensation prevailed after the dead body of an unidentified person was recovered from the restroom of Birpara Dalgaon Railway Station under Alipurduar district.
The railway workers found the body early Wednesday morning and immediately informed the Government Railway Police(GRP). The GRP officials reached the spot shortly after, recovered the body and sent it for an autopsy.
Investigations have been launched into the incident. police detained Barman on Wednesday and are further investigating the matter.siliguritimes/from,india
