
25-year-old dies after being run over by train in Naxalbari
Naxalbari, 26th June: A 25-year-old died after he was hit by a train while crossing the rail line, on Saturday morning. The incident surfaced between Satbhaiya and the School Dangi railway track in Naxalbari block. The deceased has been identified as Basant Ghimire Chettri.
Meanwhile, the railway police reached the spot, recovered the body, and sent it to North Bengal Medical College and Hospital for an autopsy. Police have started an investigation into the incident.
International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking observed in Siliguri

Siliguri, 26th June: The International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking was observed today under the initiative of the Astha Foundation and with the assistance of the NJP Police.
An awareness rally was organized in the city under the leadership of Samir Tamang, Officer-in-Charge of NJP Police Station, to make the city drug-free. The rally toured various parts of the city. Members of the organization and NJP police officials were present at the rally.
BJP is not in favour of state division: Dilip Ghosh

Siliguri, 26th June: BJP state president Dilip Ghosh arrived in North Bengal on a three-day visit to hold discussions regarding party leaders-workers as well as preparations for the municipal elections.
After arriving at NJP station on Saturday morning, he headed towards Cooch Behar. Addressing the media, he spoke on various issues. Rumours of more BJP MLAs joining TMC spread in the political arena after Mukul Roy recently joined the Trinamool Congress. In this regard, Ghosh said “The ones meant to leave have already gone. The burden has diminished. No sensible person will join TMC.”
Meanwhile, the police have arrested a man named Debanjan Deb in connection with a fake vaccination case in Kolkata. In that context, Dilip Ghosh took a jibe at TMC and said that attempts are being made to save their back. “On being caught, investigation commission, SIT are being formed to stop the investigation process,” he added.
On the other hand, some BJP MPs and MLAs have spoken for a separate state for North Bengal. However, Dilip Ghosh said that the party is not in favour of state division.
WBCS Executive Officers Association organized blood donation camp in Siliguri

Siliguri, 26th June: On the birth anniversary of Bankimchandra Chattopadhyay, a blood donation camp was organized at Kanchenjunga Stadium by the WBCS Executive Officers Association. Women also donated blood to the camp.
It has been learned that the collected blood will be sent to the blood bank of North Bengal Medical College and Hospital.
The blood donation camp was attended by SMC administrator Goutam Deb, BoA member Ranjan Sarkar, Alok Chakraborty, Darjeeling district DM S Ponnambalam, and many others.siliguritimes/from,india
