BJP Yuva Morcha demand waiver of power bills during lockdown

Alipurduar, 13th May: The BJP Yuva Morcha, on Wednesday, staged a symbolic protest outside the Madarihat Birpara Block office and electricity offices demanding the State Government to waive off electricity bills during the lockdown period.

As per the report, the protestors were spotted carrying placards in their hands from 11 am. The demonstration was staged following the government guideline of social distance and everyone was also seen wearing mouth masks.

On the other hand, the BJP Yuva Morcha District Committee staged a sit-in protest outside the electricity offices in Alipurduar.

Measures taken in Gairkata to prevent flooding in future

Nagrakata, 13th May: The construction work of embankment has commenced in the Gairkata Diana river under Nagrakata block to prevent flooding in the future.

As per the report, the construction work of a 1,025 meter river embankment started around a month ago. However due to the nation-wide lockdown imposed, the construction work was immediately stopped.

On the other hand, due to heavy rain from the past few days, the river water infiltrated the village, causing flood-like conditions. Therefore, the construction work of the embankment has commenced providing relief to the villagers from floods.

Siliguri Anjuman Khidmat-A-Khalq distributed ration among the needy amid lockdown

Siliguri, 13th May: In light of the COVID-19 lockdown, the Siliguri Anjuman Khidmat-A-Khalq extended its helping hand towards the needy.

As per the report, the organization members distributed ration among 265 needy people in the presence of the IC of Siliguri Police Station Sudip Chakraborty. Besides, they also urged everyone to maintain social distance and also distributed masks.

Organization secretary Firoz Ahmed Khan stated that such an initiative has been adopted in the month of Ramzan with the assistance of Siliguri IC.
New Delhi Dibrugarh AC Special Train kick starts its journey with several passengers

Siliguri, 13th May: Keeping in mind the desperate situation of the migrant workers stranded across the country, the Northeast Frontier Railway has arranged a special train service to help them reach home amid the ongoing lockdown.

A special train, on Wednesday morning, departed from the NJP station for Dibrugarh in Assam to help the residents of Assam reach home. Multiple people were spotted boarding the New Delhi Dibrugarh AC Special train at the NJP station today.

As per the report, the luggage of all the passengers was thoroughly sanitized before entering the station premises. Besides, people were also thermally screened. The station authorities also drew lines on the platform to help the passengers maintain social distance. The RPF personnel also kept strict surveillance at the entire station premises.
