
No vaccine received despite waiting in long queues, people staged road blockade in Alipurduar

Alipurduar, 28 April: Despite waiting for long hours in line at the Urban Primary Health Center of Alipurduar Municipality, people did not receive their dose of vaccine. Following this, hundreds of people staged a road blockade in the Madhab More area of Alipurduar, on Wednesday morning.
As per the report, since 4 am today, hundreds of people queued up for vaccination. Meanwhile, the management after opening the vaccination centre at 10 a.m informed the mass, that only those who received tokens on Tuesday will receive the vaccine today. Following this, people standing in line started protesting in front of the centre.
As the protest continued, the management locked the vaccination centre and fled. Condemning the situation, people staged a road blockade in the Madhab More area of Alipurduar.
Bidhan Market sanitized to curb spread of COVID-19 virus

Siliguri, 28th April: Amid the second wave of COVID-19, every shop in Bidhan Market was sanitized on Wednesday on behalf of Bidhan Market Vyavasayee Samiti and Help Society of Farabari.
Many people gather at Bidhan Market every day. Hence, miking was carried out in the market premises to spread awareness on behalf of the Vyavasayee Samiti. Today, the market was sanitized to curb the spread of the deadly virus.
NF Railway arrange coaches for COVID patients

Siliguri, 28th April: The North-East Frontier Railway has already built 300 COVID coaches which have been placed in various divisions.
The coaches have oxygen and all other treatment facilities for the infected patients. Out of 300 coaches, 40 coaches have been kept in Katihar and Siliguri and 22 in Alipurduar. There are 52 coaches in different places of Rangiya division, 131 coaches in Lumding division, and 54 coaches in Tinsukia division. The coaches have coolers and jute mats for the patients.
Subhanan Chanda, chief public relations officer of the North-East Frontier Railway, said that they have prepared 300 coaches. A letter has also been sent to the state government. “We will send the coaches to the designated places if needed,” he stated.
Timber worth lakhs recovered in Kalchini block

Alipurduar, 28th April: The forest workers of Pana Mobile Range of Buxa Tiger Reserve launched operations and recovered timber worth lakhs of rupees, on Wednesday morning.
As per the report, seven people were smuggling timber on their bicycles through the PMG area of Latabari in Alipurduar district’s Kalchini block, this morning. The forest department, based on a tip-off, launched operations. Upon noticing the forest workers, the smugglers left the bicycles and fled away from the scene. The recovered wood was brought to the Pana range. An investigation has been launched into the incident.siligurutimes/from,india
