
COVID-19 situation of North Bengal is under control: Dr. Susanta Roy
Siliguri, 29th April: During a meeting with all the doctors of Indian Medical Association (IMA) at the PWD Inspection Bungalow, the officer on special duty for COVID-19 in North Bengal, Dr. Susanta Roy, stated that the situation of North Bengal is under control and there is nothing much to worry about.
He further maintained that he interacted with all the health officials from different districts of North Bengal and assured the IMA doctors that the entire region is in a stable condition. He further added that swab tests should be arranged soon for all the emergency service workers who are on the frontline combating COVID-19 pandemic
COVID-19 Latest updates: Over 31,000 active cases in India, death toll rises to 1008

According to the latest data released by the Union Ministry of Health, the total COVID-19 cases in India have crossed the 31,000-mark with current numbers at 31,787.
1008 have died due to the corona infection in the country while 7797 have been cured.
Meanwhile, in West Bengal, the total number of positive cases escalated to 550 while 124 have been cured. The state has confirmed 22 deaths due to COVID-19 to date.
One arrested, illicit liquor seized near Assam-Bengal border

Alipurduar, 29th April: The Barobisha checkpost Police under Alipurduar Kumargram Police station recovered illicit liquor at the Pakriguri area near Assam-Bengal Border.
A lorry was seized in the incident and the driver was arrested.
As per the reports, 800 cartons of liquor worth 44 lakh rupees were recovered upon searching the vehicle. The liquor was allegedly being transported from Arunachal Pradesh to West Bengal. siliguritimes/from, india
