
Major fire breaks out in Cooch Behar Baman Para amid lockdown
Cooch Behar, 04th May: Sensation prevailed after a major fire broke out in a decorators’ store room in the Cooch Behar Baman Para area on Monday morning. However, no casualties have been reported so far.
Upon receiving the news, 3 fire engines reached the spot shortly after and brought the fire under control. Several valuables were destroyed in the incident. However, the cause of the fire has not yet been determined.
Maize field destroyed in an elephant rampage in Alipurduar

Alipurduar, 04th May: A maize field was severely damaged due to an elephant attack in the Turturi and Dhaolajhora area under the Buxa Tiger Reserve of Alipurduar district, on Monday morning.
According to sources, a wild elephant came out of the Buxa Tiger Reserve, this morning, and entered the Dhaolajhora area, destroying the maize field of Manik Biswas, a resident of the said area. The elephant then headed towards the Shingtong Banbasty area.
Upon receiving the news, the South Raidak Forest workers reached the spot shortly after and released the animal back into the reserve.
Illicit liquor recovered from an oil tanker in Jaigaon, 2 arrested

Jaigaon, 04th May: The Jaigaon Police, on Sunday evening, launched an operation and detained an oil tanker. Upon searching the vehicle, a large quantity of illicit Bhutanese liquor was recovered.
Two men, identified as Raju Mandal (driver) and Pradip Das(conductor) have been arrested in the incident. As per the report, the recovered liquor was being smuggled from Bhutan to Jaigaon.
