
Darjeeling district SUCI stages protest against hike in prices of petroleum products
Siliguri, 07th July: The Darjeeling district SUCI staged a protest against the hike in prices of petroleum products, cooking gas, and other daily necessities.
The protest was held on behalf of the organization at their office near Court More on Wednesday. Leaders, activists, and supporters of the organization were present at the demonstration programme.
Tanmoy Dutta, the district member of the organization, said that protest programmes have been taken up by the organization from July 01 to July 07.
Students Society of Siliguri issues 6-point memorandum to Darjeeling DM

Siliguri, 07th July: The Students Society of Siliguri, on Wednesday, handed over a 6-point memorandum to the Darjeeling DM.
The members of the organization said that educational institutions are closed for almost two years due to the ongoing pandemic. Even though online classes are being carried out at present, students, as well as guardians, often have to face various problems. Many are not able to take online classes due to a lack of proper infrastructure. As a result, students are lacking behind in their academics.
Hence, the organization handed over a memorandum to the DM of Darjeeling district in support of various demands including reopening of schools following safety measures.
Actor Dilip Kumar passes away at 98

Dilip Kumar, one of Indian cinema’s most iconic actors, passed away at the age of 98. He was ailing for some time and was admitted to the Hinduja Hospital on June 30. Unfortunately, he breathed his last on Wednesday morning.
“With a heavy heart and profound grief, I announce the passing away of our beloved Dilip Saab, few minutes ago. We are from God and to Him we return,” family friend Faisal Farooqui posted from the actor’s Twitter handle.
Kumar starred in some of Indian cinema’s most successful films, including, Mughal-e-Azam, Devdas, Naya Daur, Ram Aur Shyam, and Madhumati.
Belakoba outpost police raise awareness regarding prevention of road accidents

Rajganj, 07th July: Frequent accidents have are being reported in the Belakoba area of Rajganj block almost every now and then. To curb this menace, the Belakoba outpost police initiated miking in various places including Belakoba Bazaar and Battala.
