Jan Dhan account holders crowd banks of Rajganj amid lockdown
Rajganj, 16th April: Amid the nation-wide lockdown, several Jan Dhan Yojana account holders were spotted in front of a state-owned bank in the Siliguri Bhutkihat area, since early morning today.
Ignoring the government guidelines, the people stood in close contact with each other without maintaining social distance (a minimum of 1 m). However, the Rajganj police reached the scene later and made people aware of the government protocols.
Leopard terror grips Rajganj Gadheyagach area
Rajganj, 16th April: After a leopard was spotted, early Thursday morning, in a tea garden near the Gadheyagach village area under Binnaguri Gram Panchayat, the locals are under the grip of leopard terror.
According to a local, Atarul Haque, a woman was on her way to a nearby field and was taking along a few goats with her when the wild animal allegedly tried to jump on them. Fortunately, two motorcycles crossed the area after which the startled leopard entered the tea garden premises.
The people of the area have been terrorized since the incident. Ranger Sanjay Dutta stated that the matter is being investigated.
Disinfectant tunnel set up in Siliguri Ward No. 13 to combat COVID-19
Siliguri, 16th April: In view of the COVID-19 pandemic, a disinfectant spray tunnel has been set up in Siliguri Ward No. 13 under the initiative of Councilor Manik Dey.
As per the report, all the ward residents have to walk through the tunnel before leaving the ward and also while returning back home. The machine will automatically sanitize the people as the tunnel consists of sprayers that sprinkle disinfectants. The tunnel will be set up in various areas of the ward from Thursday.
Councilor Dey stated that such an initiative has been taken to prevent the spread of the deadly virus. He further added that more tunnels will be set up in the ward soon.siliguritimes/from, india
