Siliguri, 25th June: Due to heavy rainfall, a section of NH-55 was damaged at a landslide in Tindharia, Kurseong, on Friday morning.

The district administration and GTA have already started repair work. Upon receiving the news, the Darjeeling district police reached the spot and initiated traffic control. Residents of the area have also been shifted to safer places.

It is to be noted that due to continuous rains, the Siliguri-Darjeeling communication system was cut off last year.

NJP police arrest two on suspicion of cattle theft


Siliguri, 25th June: The NJP police arrested a woman and a youth on suspicion of cattle theft.

It has been learned that the duo was spotted with a cow on Friday. The traffic police detained and questioned them at the Noukaghat more in Siliguri. Upon sensing something suspicious, they were handed over to the NJP police.

According to police sources, the duo has been taken to the police station for further investigation.

Prasenjit Roy steps forward to help Muktadhara Foundation

Siliguri, 25th June: The Muktadhara Foundation of Siliguri has started serving the people amid the pandemic situation. They had to face various problems while working for society.

At present, as the organization is facing a financial crisis, Prasenjit Roy extended a helping hand towards them.

It has been learned that Roy handed over 11 thousand rupees, PPE kits, masks, and gloves to the organization. Apart from that, he also urged everyone to come forward to help them.
Tension erupts in Thakurnagar area surrounding mobile tower installation

Siliguri, 25th June: An atmosphere of tension erupted in the Thakurnagar area adjacent to Bhabesh more surrounding the installation of a mobile tower.

It has been learned that Prabhas Sikdar, a resident of Thakurnagar, decided to install a tower in his house in 2019. However, he has been continuously obstructed by the locals. Although he stopped the construction of the tower at that time, he resumed construction work this year.

Following this, the locals started protesting demanding to stop the installation of the tower. Later, the OC of NJP Police Station Sameer Tamang and police personnel reached the spot and brought the situation under control.
