4 NBSTC buses carrying 90 workers left for Cooch Behar from Kalimpong

Cooch Behar, 10th May: Acting on the government’s directives, 4 NBSTC buses carrying 90 migrant workers left for Cooch Behar from Kalimpong, today. The initiative has been adopted on behalf of the Kalimpong District Administration and GTA.

It has been learned that the workers had been stranded in Kalimpong ever since the COVID-19 lockdown was imposed across the nation.

As per the report, the laborers, after being medically examined were provided with food items at the Kalimpong Mela ground, this morning. Meanwhile, the people were quite happy with the initiative taken and appreciated the state government for it.
Dumper truck meets with an accident in Fulbari

Rajganj, 10th May: A speeding dumper truck, on Sunday, lost control and met with an accident in the Siliguri Fulbari Chunabhatti Asian Highway-2. However, no casualties have been reported in the incident.

As per the report, the speeding dumper truck was heading towards Siliguri, when its tires suddenly exploded. The vehicle lost control and crashed into a divider.

Meanwhile, the vehicle driver fled away from the scene. The NJP police reached the spot shortly after and are investigating the matter.
Notorious Alipurduar man drags his neighbor into forest and attempts to kill her

Alipurduar, 10th May: In a horrifying incident, a man attacked and attempted to kill his neighbor Snigdha Debnath with a sharp weapon after a dispute broke out between the two families on Saturday night. The news surfaced from the Samuktala area under Alipurduar district. The accused has been identified as Bikash Debnath, a resident of the said area.

According to local sources, tension over several issues had been hovering over the families of Bikash and Snigdha from the past several days. Allegedly, Bikash, along with the other members of his family, attacked Snigdha and her entire family last night. The furious Bikash then allegedly dragged Snigdha to the forest area and attempted to stab her with a sharp weapon. It has also been learned that he further attempted to kill Snigdha’s elder sister Smriti Debnath and her mother Jaba Debnath.

Upon receiving the news, the locals rushed to the scene, rescued the injured Snigdha from the forest, and rushed her to the Samuktala Hospital, where the doctors further referred her to the Alipurduar District Hospital.siliguritimes/from,india
