Mechinagar. As part of the 16-day campaign against gender-based violence, a comprehensive interaction among women has been completed inkakarvitta on Saturday, the 15th day.
Hundreds of women including senior women, housewives, employees, representatives of organizations, women leaders participated in the program organized by Mechi Community Service Center Women’s Sub-Committee.
Speaking on the occasion, Bitu Gurung, a member of the Reconciliation Committee, said that violence takes place in families and said that it is sad that the daily breakup of families is increasing. She said that the Reconciliation Committee will make maximum efforts to prevent family ties from breaking.
Facilitating the program, Police Inspector Arjun Pokhrel said that although violence cannot be discouraged at once, it can be gradually reduced to zero. He said that even though nature has created women and men, discrimination based on gender is punishable.
The chief guest Constituent Assembly member Usha Gurung said that the Constitution has been written to legally punish all kinds of violence and discrimination against women through the Constituent Assembly. She held the opinion that the real perpetrators and victims should be found and joined in the campaign against violence. She said that the constitution, which is flexible for women’s rights, can be amended if necessary to make it more practical and effective. Member of Seva Kendra, Mira Karki, hosted the event and was welcomed by Shashi Rai and President Treasurer Rama Thapa Magar.
Constituent Assembly member Usha Gurung was the chief guest at the event, and Seva Center President Mukti Paudel highlighted the rationale of the event.
