By A Staff Reporter, Kathmandu, Sept. 7: At least 21,000 doses of cholera vaccine have been sent to the flood-affected area, as the risk of cholera has increased following devastating floods in Rasuwa.
The vaccine, obtained with the support of the World Health Organization (WHO), was sent to Rasuwa on Sunday morning by a Nepali Army helicopter.
Meanwhile, Minister for Health and Food Safety Nisha Mehta has directed that medicines, vaccines, health supplies, and necessary public health services be provided to reduce the risk of cholera and other water-borne diseases in the flood-affected areas.
Similarly, health officials have informed that work has been taken forward to send vaccines and medicines to the affected areas, increase disease surveillance, pay special attention to safe drinking water and sanitation, and mobilise necessary health workers.
