By Our Correspondent, Myagdi, Aug. 16: A trekking route leading to the famous religious site of Rikhar in Kuinemangale, Ward No. 8 of Raghuganga Rural Municipality, Myagdi, has been constructed. As visitors to the Rikhar area were facing difficulties due to the lack of a proper trail route, the rural municipality constructed the trail at several difficult locations.
According to Kulraj Paudel, Chief Administrative Officer of Raghuganga Rural Municipality, the footpath was constructed through a users’ committee with an allocation of Rs. 500,000 from the current fiscal year’s budget.
He said the trial was built to make it easier for devotees visiting the Rikhar Temple for worship and religious rituals on the occasion of Janai Purnima.
Chitra Bahadur Chhetry, chairman of the Trekking Route Construction Users’ Committee and also chairman of the Likhar Conservation Committee, said that approximately 60 meters of footpath was constructed at various locations.
He said that people traveling to Rikhar had previously faced several difficulties because there was no proper trekking path. He added, “The rural municipality has made travel easier by constructing trial routes at places that were difficult to access using the budget allocated for the current fiscal year.”
Located near the Dhaulagiri Base Camp at an altitude of approximately 4,500 meters, Rikhar is an area of significant religious and natural importance. He said the local government should give priority to developing tourism infrastructure and promoting the area.
Rikhar is a sacred religious site situated in the foothills of the world’s seventh-highest mountain, Dhaulagiri. It has long been recognised as a holy pilgrimage site where the Seven Sages (Saptarishis) are believed to have meditated and attained spiritual knowledge. Special worship and religious rituals are performed at Rikhar on the day of Janai Purnima.
